Story on Lateral Thinking

A STORY TO THINK AND GIVE SOLUTIONS

Thought ill tell you all a small story, at the end of the story i'm going to ask you a question:

Long long ago, I dont know how long ago but during the medieval period, some where in Europe there lived a poor peasent with his daughter. He was a poor man, so as poor man do, he also borrowed money to lead his precarious life. It happened so, that during one of the cultivation season he required money. In the same village there lived a rich money lender who lived in a palatial house and his prime business is to lend money and cheat people. This poor farmer had no other way but to go to him for money. so he borrowed some money which had a due date to be returned back to the money lender.

But as usual God always test the poor, so the monsoon failed and the farmer could not reap the best. so he was not in a position to return the money back. Hence he went to the money lenders house and tried to explain his position and also tried to buy more time from him to repay the loan amount.

The money lender was just waiting for this situation, he told the poor farmer that he will not budge for his cries. After repetative pleads the moneylender gave a proposal to the farmer. He told him that he will consider his plea and give a solution to him. The money lender had always wanted to marry the daughter of the farmer and now he found a way to do it. So he asked the farmer to come to his house with his daughter. Being on the receiving end the farmer accepted and brought his daughter.

The money lender told them that he is going to put two different coloured (Black & White) pebbles into a bag and the farmers daughter has to pick one out of the bag. If the stone picked by her was a white one then the farmer need not repay the loan amount and he can go free but if it was a black one then also the farmer need not repay but has to marry his daughter to him. (The money lender was scheming a clever plan)

They accepted, now the money lender picked up two pebbles from the pavement and put them into the bag, while doing so he picked two black ones and put them into the bag, which was noticed by the daughter of the farmer.

Now what should the daughter do -say ??

But Both the farmer and his daughter walk away free from the money lenders house.
